1998 was an exciting year for FTT 2000! The National Consultation in April saw close to 500 church leaders come together from every province of Kenya to discuss the unreached peoples of Kenya. Guests from Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Burundi and Congo joined this meeting as well. In preparation for the consultation and the follow up effort afterwards leaders of FTT 2000 traveled to every province in Kenya to visit Pastor's fellowship meetings and other meetings to present the vision of uniting churches for a National Initiative.

On May 17th, the first Concert of Prayer focusing on the 22 unreached people groups was held at Nairobi Pentecostal Church. This has become a monthly event hosted by a different church every third Sunday of the month from 3-5 p.m.

A Strategy Cabinet was established in July and from September 2-3 the cabinet held a retreat to discuss strategy for the future of the FTT 2000 movement. In early October, a team of leaders from FTT 2000 went to Garissa to meet with and pray for the unreached people groups located there. They also brought together all of the pastors to discuss the situation in this strategic location.

PLANS FOR 1999 AND 2000 (Strategy Cabinet Recommendations)

In November of 1998, the first FTT 2000 Regional Consultation was held for the Eastern Province in Embu. Pastors and church leaders from over ten denominations attended this meeting. A report has come to the office that the leaders from Marsabit are already planning a District meeting to set practical goals for their important area.

Plans are currently under way for Consultation meetings in the remaining regions of Kenya. Leaders in Kitale and Nakuru are planning the dates and venues for Western/Northern Rift Valley and Southern Rift Valley regional meetings. Follow up discussions with leaders in Mombasa and Garissa will focus on planning regional meetings for the Coast and Northwestern Provinces. Nyanza Province and Central/Nairobi need key leadership in Kisumu and Nyeri to help get the plans started.

Contact the FTT 2000 office* if you feel that God is calling you to help with the consultation in your region.

Throughout Kenya, there has been an increased awareness and interest in the FTT 2000 movement but there has been no full time staff to travel and communicate key information. Therefore, the strategy cabinet recommended that a National Coordinator position be established. Presently, FTT 2000 leaders are working on a job description and funding for the National Coordinator.

Tukunboh Adeyemo of AEA challenged FTT 2000 to consider a Centre for Mission in Nairobi. The components of this Centre are as follows:

In January, Dan Germo and his family arrived in Nairobi with a vision for helping to see this Centre become a reality. Ron Holcolm and his family also arrived in January with plans to help build missions awareness among local churches and to help with missions training. God seems to be saying that now is the time for missions mobilization in East Africa!

To help communicate information about the effort among the unreached, the Strategy Cabinet suggested that FTT 2000 produce and distribute a Periodic Newsletter. The Newsletter would include Missionary testimonies, Reports from the field, and various articles on mission.

Care would be taken not report on sensitive areas of the country where there is a potential to endanger the missionaries.

Plans for ongoing visits to the mission field will help Church Leaders to understand the challenges of working among these people groups. These "Prayer Journeys" will also encourage the missionaries as they minister in difficult areas.

FTT 2000 will continue to challenge local Kenyan churches to adopt unreached people groups for prayer, partnership and planning. At a recent meeting of FTT 2000, all of the remaining unreached people groups of Kenya were adopted by local churches. Pray with us for the follow up and implementation of plans to see a church planting effort among every one of Kenya's 22 unreached people groups before the end of the year AD 2000.

The opportunities to help with the FTT 2000 movement are growing. Your input and involvement are welcomed.
