Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ:
Please carefully review and pray over the following Straight Line message from Eric Watt regarding a key upcoming meeting and a follow-on Millennium Tribute to Jesus Project. Let us pray for the 17 September planning meeting and plans / preparations and fallout results of this compelling evangelistic project, as all the days proceed. May God be glorified through it all, as many new believers come to a saving grace in Jesus throughout the 150 nations being targeted! Praise God!
That all may hear,
AD2000 & Beyond Movement
For the last several months more than 200 organizations have been working together to launch the Millennial Projects Planning Day on September 17. On that day from 0900 to 1700 Christian leaders in more than 150 countries will gather together to pray, strategize and plan to use the events of the new millennium as an opportunity to reach their nation and the unreached of the world.
Executive Director of AD2000's Strategic Mobilization Task Force, Eric Watt, explains, "In every country and among nearly every people the change in the millennium represents an opportunity to pay tribute to Jesus Christ. There will be major sporting events, such as the 2000 Olympics, plus scheduled evangelistic events planned to coincide with the coming of the new millennium. It has been the hope of many of us that, in the spirit of unity, we might join together in one final push to see every person on earth have the privilege of a relationship with Jesus Christ and be involved in a local fellowship of believers."
The first of the global evangelistic events is the Millennial Tribute to Jesus. This project is coordinated by The Network for Strategic Missions (the coordinating ministry for the Strategic Mobilization Task Force). Thanks to Dr. Bill Bright and Paul Eshleman, a special edition of the Jesus Film is being produced with more than 50 individual tributes from world renowned sports personalities, entertainers and political leaders. Even those of a different faith are being encouraged to comment on various attributes of His character, His care for the poor or the hope and peace His presence brings.
The Millennial Tribute to Jesus program is expected to air in 80 languages in 150 countries beginning this Christmas Eve. A projected worldwide audience of 500 million will watch the film and have an opportunity to write in for more information about Jesus Christ.
"The power behind this project," Watt continues, "comes from a new paradigm in missions. Large organizations such as Campus Crusade for Christ, the United Bible Societies, the Southern Baptists and others have linked with hundreds of other organizations to trust God for one single purpose.. Giving Tribute to Jesus. This may mark the first time in this century that so many organizations, both from the west and non-western worlds have united in an equal partnership to proclaim the Gospel."
As the program airs in each of the expected 150 countries, an address will be shown for viewers to write in for more information. Letters will be sent out along with a beautiful four color explanation of who Jesus is and an invitation to trust Christ as Savior (complements of Campus Crusade) as well as the United Bible Societies' copy of the Gospel of Luke. A national task force is being assembled in each country to coordinate the follow up so that seekers are given the chance to meet those already following Jesus. Great precaution is being taken in sensitive and restricted environments.
