Leave your heart in Mogadishu:
Take a Prayer Journey This Year

Enjoy traveling to foreign lands? Like to get off the beaten tourist track? Want to do something special with your vacation time this year? Consider a trip with eternal significance -- consider taking a prayer journey.

This year through the end of October, prayer journey teams are fanning out across the globe to pray on location among the 1,739 designated unreached people groups for 1997's Praying Through the Window III. This initiative focuses on intercession towards the evangelization of these ethno-linguistic groups with no indigenous Gospel witness.

You can be a part of this effort by traveling to the 10/40 Window to "pray on site with insight." This rectangular area, from 10 to 40 degrees north latitude and stretching from West Africa through East Asia, is home to the world's least evangelized peoples.

Why fly halfway around the world to pray? Can't we intercede from wherever we live? Most certainly, home-based intercessors play an essential role in paving the way for the Good News of Jesus Christ and backing on-location believers in prayer. But indelible life changes take place when we pray "in the very places in which we expect God to bring forth the answers to our prayer," says Steve Hawthorne, co-author with Graham Kendrick of Prayerwalking: Praying On Site With Insight.

According to one prayer-journeying businessman:

On a prayer journey team, you help prepare the way for the advancement of the Gospel. As you go, moreover, you find God building and expanding your vision for what He is doing and wants to do in that place, stirring hope for the fulfillment of His promises. The sights, sounds and smells of the city you visit will engage your body, soul and spirit. And after you return, your prayers for that people and place will never be the same because you have left a piece of your heart there.

Prayer journeys require significant advance preparation. The team formed should include journeyers, intercessory support people, financial backers and in-country partners, where possible. You will need to research the country you plan to visit, its cultural practices and security concerns. Team members should meet and pray together regularly before leaving home in order to develop spiritual unity, common vision, and a willing submission to leadership authority.

Praying Through the Window III Resources
Equip Intercessors to Pray with Power

Colorado Springs, CO--An exciting new full-color map joins a video, book, prayer calendar and other resources designed to mobilize up to 50 million worldwide intercessors in daily prayer for unreached people groups during the current Praying Through the Window III intercessory effort.

During Praying Through the Window III, which started October 1, 1996, and runs through the end of October 1997, prayer journey teams from around the globe, backed by home-based intercessors, will travel to pray on location among each of the 1,739 designated unreached peoples. The initiative focuses intercession towards the evangelization of these ethno-linguistic groups with no indigenous gospel witness.

The new map, produced by the AD2000 & Beyond Movement and unveiled at the Urbana'96 missions conference in late December, features the "gateway" people group clusters of the 10/40 Window. This rectangular area, 10 to 40 degrees north latitude and stretching from West Africa through East Asia, is home to the world's least evangelized peoples.

The map is designed to accompany the Praying Through the Window III prayer calendar. The calendar guides intercessors through 31 days of prayer each month for the specific people group clusters, giving key prayer points. More detailed information is available in the book Praying Through the Window III: The Unreached Peoples, a 119-page prayer guide from YWAM Publishing. In addition, the video To the Ends of the Earth encourages viewers to pray, send prayer teams and even go themselves to intercede on site among the unreached.

All these and other prayer resources are available in several translations for use around the world. The Praying Through the Window III steering committee, chaired by Michael Little of the Christian Broadcasting Network, is urging many more publishers, translators and distributors to join the effort to get these resources into the hands of intercessors worldwide.

Another major resource for intercessors comes from Bethany World Prayer Center in Baker, Louisiana. This church, pastored by Larry Stockstill, is coordinating the production of four-page prayer profiles for each of the 1,739 unreached people groups, including a photo, map and specific prayer points. As they become available, the Bethany profiles may be obtained in brochure form or accessed via their web site at http://www.bethany-wpc. org/profiles/home.html.

The recently released WindoWatchman II book details powerful and exciting stories of God's Spirit moving in life-changing ways as a result of the intercession and prayer journeys to gateway cities that took place during Praying Through the Window II in October 1995. Published by the Christian Information Network, this book offers inspiration and faith-building encouragement during the current initiative.

Audio and video tapes will soon be available from the "Praying With Power" training conference, sponsored by Christian Information Network and the World Prayer Center in Colorado Springs February 12-15, 1997. Workshops and plenary sessions led by renowned international leaders aim to "empower ordinary people for extraordinary exploits."

Praying Through the Window III Gears Up to Mobilize Intercessors:
New Prayer Resources Spotlight Unreached Peoples

(Colorado Springs, CO) A new worldwide prayer initiative focused on the unreached peoples of the 10/40 Window will move into high gear in October with the release of three new prayer resources: a book, video, and prayer calendar.

The initiative, dubbed Praying Through the Window III, will mobilize strategic, coordinated intercession for the 1,739 targeted unreached people groups, starting October 1st and continuing throughout the next year. During those months, prayer journey teams from around the globe will pray on location among these groups. The effort culminates in October 1997 when organizers expect a massive army of up to 50 million intercessors to pray daily for the evangelization of unreached peoples.

"Never before have so many of the resources of prayer been so focused on obeying the Great Commission -- especially in going to the unreached,"says Michael Little, chairman of the Praying Through the Window III committee and president of the Christian Broadcasting Network, producers of the just-completed video.

The new prayer resources supporting this initiative include Praying Through the Window III: The Unreached Peoples, a 100-page prayer guide from YWAM Publishing. The book profiles about 124 related people group clusters, assigned to 31 days of intercession. Each day highlights one group (cluster), with information about two to four others.

The prayer calendar condenses the book's information into a reproducible brochure guiding intercessors through 31 days of prayer for the specific groups. It is intended for use each month throughout the effort's 13-month duration.

The new video, To the Ends of the Earth, gives "an irresistible validity to the urgent mandate to reach those who have yet to know that there is an eternal hope," according to Little. It encourages viewers to pray, send prayer teams and even go themselves to intercede on site among the unreached. Ten- and twenty-six-minute versions are presented on the same tape.

Many scores of organizations worldwide that cooperate with the A.D. 2000 United Prayer Track are participating in this prayer effort. Luis Bush, member of the Praying Through the Window III committee and international director of the A.D. 2000 & Beyond Movement, says, "I believe the momentum for global, focused, fervent prayer during Praying Through the Window III will in all likelihood result in the greatest spiritual harvest of all time for the unreached peoples of the world."

Other major partners include Billy Joe Daugherty (Victory Christian Center, Tulsa, OK), Ted Haggard (New Life Church, Colorado Springs), Fred Markert (YWAM), Myles Munroe (Bahamas Faith Ministries), Beverly Pegues (Christian Information Network), John Robb (World Vision/MARC), Roy Stockstill, Larry Stockstill and Rick Ward (Bethany World Prayer Center, Baker, LA), C. Peter Wagner (United Prayer Track) and Doris Wagner (Global Harvest Ministries).

All three new prayer resources will be translated into numerous languages. Ten translations of the book and calendar should be available by December.

Praying Through the Window III is the third global prayer initiative centered on the 10/40 Window. This rectangular area, 10 to 40 degrees north latitude and stretching from West Africa through East Asia, is home to the world's least evangelized peoples.

Praying Through the Window I in October 1993 targeted the countries in this region, mustering over 20 million intercessors worldwide. Praying Through the Window II in October 1995 mobilized prayer for the "gateway cities" of the 10/40 Window, with over 35 million intercessors supporting this initiative in prayer.
