Joshua Project 2000
Second Leaders' Meeting in Singapore

On February 26, 1996, Luis Bush, international director of the AD2000 &
Beyond Movement, first introduced Joshua Project 2000 to some 150 key
leaders, including heads of major denominations and missions agencies in
Singapore. Lest than a month later, on March 21, Archbishop Moses Tay,
national coordinator of the AD2000 & Beyond Movement in Singapore, along
with the Singapore Centre for Evangelism and Missions (SCEM), called for a
full day follow-up meeting of a smaller group of senior leaders of major
denominations, churches, and missions agencies. Eighteen key leaders spent
the whole day drawing up suggestions and action plans for a Joshua Project
2000 missions mobilization process in Singapore and Southeast Asia. The
group considered proposals and reached agreements on several points:
- Prioritize missions to the least evangelized peoples in Asia, especially
in 10/40 Window countries where Singapore already has missions commitments
and partnerships.
- Introduce and implement Joshua Project 2000 as a frontier missions
mobilization process in as many churches, mission agencies, and networks as
are willing to adopt this vision and its goal of "a church for every people
and the gospel for every person by AD2000.
- Accelerate adoptions of least evangelized peoples in Southeast Asia and
beyond.
- Train and send teams to do on-site prayer and research in least
evangelized peoples.
- Mobilize intercession through the United Prayer Track in Singapore
(using Joshua Project 2000 prayer profiles), encouraging each church to
adopt at least one people group for prayer.
- Organize a Joshua Project 2000 Missionfest in 1997 to challenge and
mobilize the Christian youth and students of this nation to participate in
frontier missions to unreached peoples.
- Host a Joshua Project 2000 Southeast Asia Consultation, March 3-6, 1997,
with Luis Bush as the keynote speaker. Seen as both an on-going process and
a catalytic mobilization event for the region, this consultation espouses
the following objectives:
- To identify the least evangelized peoples in our region and beyond which
are most desperately needing a pioneer church planting movement.
- To jointly and cooperatively adopt these least evangelized peoples
throughout the region and beyond.
- To form new strategic partnerships and to redefine existing
international partnerships among ministries throughout the region and
beyond, turning these partnerships into practical, strategic alliances
which, as part of the consultation process, cooperatively set goals and
plan strategies for catalyzing an indigenous church planting movement in
each group by the year 2000.
Revelation 5:9 says there will be persons in heaven ransomed from every
tribe, language, people, and nation. The launch of Joshua Project 2000
signals a worldwide Holy Spirit initiative to mobilize the body of Christ
to cross over into the final frontier of unreached peoples. The Spirit is
calling the body of Christ in Singapore and Southeast Asia to cooperate
with the global Church to "enter the land" and establish "a church for
every people and the gospel for every person by the year 2000?"
