GCOWE 97 City March for the Nations
Excitement mounts for the march
The culmination of the Global Consultation of World Evangelisation
will take the form of a huge City March called "March for
the Nations" (From Joshua to Jericho). When Joshua mobilized
an army to take possession of the Promised Land, one of the most
amazing events in the Bible took place. God's people did not conquer
Jericho with arms or ammunition. Their approach was unconventional
- they marched, blew trumpets, shouted and praised God.
We believe that the March on Saturday, 5 July will likewise be
an unconventional event. Leaders from over 120 nations of the
world, together with the church in Pretoria and South Africa,
will march joyfully declaring that our God, who is a God of Love,
is concerned about all the nations of the world and that we share
His concern for those that do not know Him as Saviour.
- Date and Time:
- On 5 July we will meet at 07h30 in time to start the March
at 08h00. Please ensure that you are not late. The event should
be completed by 12h00.
- Route:
- The March will start at the grounds of the Union Buildings
in Church Street (opposite the World Mission Centre) and will
end in Sammy Marks Square.
- Radio Broadcast:
- The event will be broadcast live in Pretoria through Radio
Ripple and Impact Radio (103 MHz FM Stereo).
- Banners:
- We would like to have as many banners as possible in the procession.
The banners MUST ONLY draw the attention to Jesus and His Lordship.
(The March is not a protest March). We want to encourage you as
families, cell groups, youth groups, Sunday schools, etc. to make
banners for this exciting event.
- What to bring along:
- Please bring along a PORTABLE RADIO so that you can tune in
to the broadcast. Ensure that you wear comfortable walking shoes
and possibly a hat.
- Aged and disabled:
- A special bus will be made available to transport the aged
and disabled who cannot participate in the March itself. This
bus will depart from the Union Buildings at the same time as the
March. (If you need to make use of this bus, please ensure that
you book at the organizer's office. The telephone number is 343
1165.)
