The Value of Linking With
Mission Agencies
Few aspects are more crucial to the success of your network than building
relationships with missionary sending agencies. The expertise and experience
of mission agencies and field missionaries who work among an unreached
people will generally offer:
-
a better understanding of cultural values and mores
-
training in appropriate strategies for evangelism and church planting
-
knowledge of the needs on the field
-
recommendations for security guidelines
-
suggestions for viable network projects
-
relationships with nationals
-
insight which may prevent a negative experience for your church or network
-
information and prayer updates
-
an unparalelled vision and love for the people
Churches are encouraged to link with agencies in order to avoid causing
compromise or damage to field work. However unintentional, a lack of cultural
or political understanding and using inappropriate methods of evangelism
may result in restrictions for missionaries and persecution to national
believers. A negative field experience may also damage the vision
and commitment level of a local sending church. Working with knowledgeable
agencies will reduce the risk and enhance the benefit to the church, network
and unreached people. See Locating<>
